You’ve barely gotten used to regularly using a face moisturizer and now grooming companies are telling you that you need a facial serum too.
I know, I know, you’re over it right? Can’t say I blame you…
But before you pass on the idea entirely, some of you guys out there may see the benefit.
A serum is designed to deliver added moisture and nutrients into the deeper layers of the skin where your regular moisturizer realistically cannot reach. Because of this, facial serums have a “targeted” purpose. They are used for issues ranging from anti-aging, skin discoloration, and even acne just to name a few. Ideally, the serum would be applied to the skin just before your moisturizer. With this combination, the facial serum acts as the skin treatment and the face moisturizer jumps in to hydrate the skin.
Now here’s the thing. Considering the purchase of both a serum and a moisturizer is not a bad idea; however, it isn’t a necessary one. If you’ve had great results with just your moisturizer, then stick with it. But if you’re looking for an added skincare benefit or solution to a problem, then a serum may be the answer.
Hope that helps!
Great article Craig. I always wanted to know the difference between a serum and a moisturizer and the benefits of a serum.
