Hello Cedric, thank you for the question! The steps in this shave video can be adopted by men of all colors. Each step is focused on controlling how short the beard hair is cut by first shaving with the grain and then for a closer shave across the grain. For many men, this technique allows the shave to be close but not so close to where the hair falls below the skin-line resulting in ingrown hairs. Here is an article that I recently wrote that can help you determine if a razor is best for you! ~ https://themensroom.com/shaving/can-i-even-use-a-razor/
Great work in that vid! Do you recommend hat a novice razor shaver (using a Merkur safety razor)
attempt to learn to use the straight razor (classic types or the newer Artisan Feathers)? Will there be a noticeable increase in shave quality?
Thank you for the question! Although shaving your face with a straight razor is a great experience. Not to mention, simply “looking cool” while doing it… It can take quite some time to master a close and comfortable shave. Personally I believe that the use of a DE razor, like your Merkur, will deliver just as close of a shave as a straight-razor- with much less mastering time.
Thanks again for your inquiry, if you have any other questions please do not hesitate to ask!
Great video. What is the best razor out and when do you know it’s time to change your razor? I struggle with a clean shave and less irritation after works on my neck line ESP after a day in a shirt and tie. My neck is killing me!
Thanks Chris! Here’s an article on my favorite razor – The Double Edge (DE) Safety Razor – http://bit.ly/YVKuWT and as far as knowing when is the right time to change blades… Here’s a great read as well! ~ Blade use… How long is too long? – http://bit.ly/XzQTqg. Hope that helps, and thanks for the comment!
Hi Devlyn, the BumpFighter Razor is a good razor with a great concept behind it. However, it will still come down to understanding the direction of beard growth in order to avoid ingrown hairs. Hope that helps!
Hello how would this type of shave affect men of color I know if i use a razor on my face I would have hair bumps all over
