Guys, I get it. We are always looking for ways to simplify our grooming routine, not add to it! And as the market for men’s grooming products continue to grow, you will often stumble upon a few items that may cause you to wonder what their purpose is and if you need to add it to your bathroom cabinet. One of them is the skin toner…
The purpose? A toner is designed to re-balance the skins pH level after you’ve washed your face, all while closing the skins pores and preparing the skin for your daily moisturizer.
Well, quite honestly, trying to convince the average guy to add a toner to his daily grooming regimen, is about as tough as getting him to use a daily moisturizer, so I won’t. Instead, I will say that it is a great “addition” to your daily routine, especially in the dry months of fall and winter. Adding skin toner today could save you from the suffering of “winter skin” in the coming months.
However, now-a-days, soaps and face washes are appropriately formulated to maintain the pH balance of your skin, therfore, making the role of a toner relatively less vital. So as long as you are using a mid-level brand face wash followed by a good moisturizer… you’ll be fine. But if you can spare the extra 30 seconds I highly recommend adding a skin toner to keep your face in balance.
